13 Jul 2008 Anglia Recruitment Group on the edge for Charity!
Taking place from the Maternity Block of Ipswich Hospital, we were graced with yet another sunny day at this year’s Charity Abseil in aid of the St Elizabeth Hospice. There was a great turn-out as usual and teams organised by Anglia Recruitment Group's Martyn Abbott contributed £2,500 to the total raised.
With nonchalant smiles, Anglia Recruitment Group’s team of Clients line up to take their turn going over the edge.
It was a family affair for ARG’s own team. A demonstration of cool, from left to right: Sisters Adelaide and Natalie, our Office Manager, with Rachel and Martyn, and Martyn’s Dad, Peter.
Everybody is strapped into the harness in turn, and there’s a bit of special attention for Dad …
… and Martyn is really relaxed, he can’t wait to launch into space.
Time to concentrate the mind on the job in hand.
He’s so fit, he positively zooms down the wall …
… and is on the ground in a twinkling.
It’s all plain sailing with everyone coming smoothly down from the roof …
… until an elderly lady is lowered carefully on her way …
… she suddenly slips and loses her footing …
… fights to maintain her stance …
… struggles to regain her balance …
… and bravely completes the abseil under her own steam and even manages a smile for the cheering crowd.
A relieved pensioner vows: “I’m never doing that again!”
